The Oxbow: Special Rules for Carpooling and Parking
Northampton Soccer Club’s use of the Oxbow Fields are governed by a Special Permit which requires us to take specific measures to reduce the amount of traffic to and from the field. This can be done in one of two ways:
1) Meet in the parking lot at the head of the road and caropool from that location.
2) Carpool from home.
In either case, there should always be at least two players clearly visible in each car and no more than a total of ten cars for each team.
We must comply with this condition in order to ensure our continued use of these fields. And we need these fields. This fall/winter NSC will apply for a new permit to use the fields seeking the removal of this condition. Our case will be seriously compromised if we have not complied with the existing permit.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we move forward on this issue. If you have any questions about this issue, please contact one of NSC’s officers.

NSC DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM: FUN & FUNDAMENTAL SOCCER FOR GIRLS AND BOYS K-2 BEGINS Thursday, April 5.
OUR PROGRAM: The Northampton Soccer Club Developmental Program meets on Thursday evenings from 6-7:15 pm and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 am to teach little ballplayers the fundamental individual skills of soccer through small-sided intramural games (3 v 3 and 4 v 4) and practices. All practices will be at Jackson Street School in Northampton unless otherwise noted.
WHY 3v3 and 4v4 IS BETTER FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT THAN TYPICAL LEAGUE PLAY:
- Requires players to figure and participate in the key patterns of soccer: triangle play, 1v1, 2v2 etc.
- Requires players to both defend and attack.
- Improves player concentration because ball is close to them at all times.
- The dynamic tempo of small-sided games improves fitness.
- Small-sided games are played without goalies, which increases the number of goals scored and thrills experienced by young players.
- Rules are simplified, emphasizes imaginative play, and promotes growth and appreciation of the game.
THE COACH: The team will be coached by veteran coach Sam Intrator with help from other NSC coaches and parent assistants.
PRACTICES: The NSC Developmental Team will meet Thursday night from 6-7:15 pm and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 at at Jackson Street School in Northampton.
COST: $45 (includes team jersey)
